What is PMP certification?

Ans: PMP stands for Project Management Professional and is an internationally recognized certificate offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Ans: A PMP certification demonstrates a person’s knowledge and skills in project management. In order to prepare for the PMP certification, many candidates enroll in a PMP prep course. While obtaining the certification can be expensive, the long-term benefits are well worth the cost. A PMP credential is a reputable and necessary credential for those interested in project management careers.

Ans: To qualify for the PMP exam, you need a four-year degree, three years of project management experience (4,500 hours of leading and directing projects), and 35 hours of project management education. With a high school diploma or associate’s degree, you’ll need five years of experience.

Total Questions: 180 questions (175 scored, 5 unscored pre-test questions)

Question Types: Multiple choice, multiple responses, matching, hotspot, and fill-in-the-blank.

Content Outline:

  1. People (42%): Leadership, team management, conflict resolution, communication.
  2. Process (50%): Project management processes, tools, and techniques.
  3. Business Environment (8%): Alignment of projects with business strategy, and compliance.

Time Limit: 230 minutes (approximately 3.5 hours).

Ans: The PMP certification is valid for 3 years from the date you pass the exam.

To maintain your certification, you need to earn 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) within the 3-year cycle. PDUs can be earned through activities like:

Attending PMI events or workshops
Taking courses related to project management
Self-directed learning, such as reading articles or books
Contributing to the project management profession (e.g., giving presentations, writing articles)

Once you have completed the required PDUs, you can apply for certification renewal through PMI. If you don’t renew on time, your certification will expire, and you will need to retake the exam to regain your PMP status.

Ans: The cost of a PMP course in the UAE typically ranges from:

Instructor-led training: AED 4,000 to AED 8,000 (classroom or virtual)

Online courses: AED 2,500 to AED 5,000 (self-paced or live sessions)

Corporate training: AED 10,000 to AED 20,000 (for groups)

Additional costs include the PMP exam fee (USD 405 for PMI members, USD 655 for non-members) and study materials, which may be included or priced separately.
